In acute gouty arthritis the recommended dose makes 120mg once a day. Drug treatment should be prescribed with the lowest effective dose for the shortest term. Arcoxia is a fast-acting drug, therefore, effect is quickly revealed after Arcoxia taking. Duration of the treatment with 120mg drug dose should not exceed eight days. The standard therapeutic dose makes 60mg a day.
After taking, Arcoxia is quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Oral bioavailability makes about 100%. Antacids do not affect drug pharmacokinetics. Drug action is not changed in senior patients. Drug is eliminated through the kidneys, mainly as metabolites.
You are recommended to strictly follow the prescribed drug dosage and the doctor’s instructions. Otherwise an overdose may be experienced. Symptoms of drug overdose may be revealed in the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system and kidneys.
Preparation action

Arcoxia is a selective COX-2 inhibitor, in therapeutic dose blocks prostaglandin formation with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-fever action. Selective COX-2 suppression reduce the clinical symptoms associated with inflammatory process, thus platelets and mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract are not affected.
Arcoxia does not affect prostaglandin in mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract and the bleeding period. Clinical researches have not reported decrease in level arachidonic acids and aggregation of platelets, caused by collagen.
Contraindications to drug application
Before Arcoxia use, all contraindications should be thoroughly considered. It will help to avoid any side-effects. Correct drug use with taking into consideration of all contraindications allows to successfully treat the disease without any adverse reactions.
Contraindications include: hypersensibility to any drug component, bronchial asthma, nasal polyposis, and acetilsalicylic acid and other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs intolerance, erosive ulcer of stomach, duodenal ulcer, hemophilia and other disorders of blood coagulation, cardiac insufficiency, hepatic impairment, renal insufficiency, and high arterial pressure.
Drug use is not recommended during pregnancy or breast-feeding as Arcoxia may negatively affect a fetus and an infant. Arcoxia is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
During Arcoxia use arterial pressure should be controlled. All patients during drug taking should monitor their arterial pressure within first two weeks of the treatment and later on the regular base. Also the liver and kidneys should be tested. Arcoxia is not recommended to be taken with non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.
Arcoxia is allowed with acetylsalicinic acid in low doses intended for prophylaxis of cardiovascular diseases.
During the treatment, the patients are recommended to be careful at driving and any potentially dangerous activity required attention and fast psychomotor reactions.
Arcoxia side-effects
Side-effects are a negative aspect of all drugs, but they cannot be avoided during the treatment.
